What is JAMMA?
JAMMA stands for Japan Amusement Machinery Manufacturers Association and is basically an organization that introduced a set of specification standards for arcade boards. Traditionally, every manufacturer had a different way of hooking together all the wiring inside an arcade machine...and no two were the same. With JAMMA, each arcade board from different companies will all have the same connection interface to connect the monitor and controls in an arcade machine...making changing games and installing new cabinets much easier. Since who really wants to have to re-wire an entire arcade machine if you ever decide to change games? The JAMMA standard provides this easy connection interface so you can switch arcade game boards as easily as you would change games for a home videogame console.
Now, more than ever, it is becoming increasingly popular to own your own upright arcade machine in your home gameroom! The JAMMA interface is really what makes it possible for the collector/enthusiast to get started with only a single arcade machine in their home...yet switch out boards with thousands of possible JAMMA compatible games!
Re-live your days playing your favorite arcade games by owning your own machine today!
